Offshore Programs – Probolinggo, Tarakan, Maumere, Jember

Reaching more people living in remote areas, we held four offshore programs in July and August – two in East Java (Probolinggo and Jember), one in Tarakan, North Kalimantan, and one in Maumere, Flores.

In these locations a total of 8,831 people with eye problems were checked, 5,548 were issued with glasses and 1,700 were treated for eye infections to prevent more serious problems developing. 516 blind people received sight-restoring operations.

Thanks to the donors who made these programs possible – Reliable Education, Natasha Knights & Sophie Chamberlain, Nine Links Foundation, Komunitas Cinta Kasih, Direct Aid Program of the Australian Consulate-General in Makassar, and FeelGood Designs.

Thank you also to the local organisations who assisted the JFF team with logistics and authorisations, and to the ophthalmologists from PERDAMI (East Java, Bali, NTB), TNI AU and Tarakan who operated the blind patients.
