JOIN JFF CREATE

JFF CREATE is a new volunteering program targeted at empowering junior doctors to engage with JFF’s activities and more broadly, with the fight against global blindness.

Volunteers are supported through six fundamental endeavours:

Charity, Research, Exchange, Awareness, Tutelage, Empowerment

The Inaugural 2024 JFF CREATE has seen founders and inaugural volunteers Dr Elaine Ong and Dr Qiang Li achieve the following outcomes:

  • $12,177 AUD raised for charity, enough to fund over 180 sight-restoring cataract surgeries
  • Commence digitisation of JFF’s medical records, which will facilitate future research on disease burden and outcomes after intervention
  • Go on a subsidised clinical exchange to Bali for 2 weeks, observing JFF’s activities
  • Build awareness by presenting at 2024 APAO Congress (Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology)
  • Benefit from an experience of tutelage and empowerment

For 2025, the JFF team is looking for two more Australian doctors to volunteer for the JFF CREATE Program. Volunteers will be expected to fulfill the following responsibilities:

  • Raise $5,000 AUD each for charity
  • Go on a subsidised exchange to Bali, Indonesia for 2 weeks (flexible timing)
  • Advocate and build ongoing awareness for the program and for JFF’s impact in addressing global blindness
