Use Your Marketing Expertise to Restore Sight and Transform Lives

The John Fawcett Foundation (JFF) is seeking an experienced Marketing Manager to build our first professional marketing function, enhance profile and brand awareness, and amplify our impact across Indonesia and beyond. This isn’t just another marketing role—it’s your opportunity to combine strategic thinking with meaningful purpose.

You’ll collaborate closely with our Indonesia-based operational team, an active Board of Directors, and our international coordination hub in Perth.

The Role

You’ll build JFF’s marketing function from the ground up, blending strategic planning with hands-on execution. The role begins with a 6-month trial at 2 days per week, after which there is potential to increase to 3 days per week and transition into a permanent position, ideally building towards creating and managing a marketing team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute JFF’s first comprehensive marketing and fundraising strategy.
  • Digital Marketing: Manage social media presence, email marketing, website optimization, and SEO/SEM.
  • Campaign Management: Design and implement donor acquisition campaigns, fundraising appeals, and awareness initiatives.
  • Brand Development: Strengthen JFF’s brand consistency and messaging across all platforms.
  • Media Relations: Secure media coverage and manage public relations efforts.
  • Team Coordination: Direct internal and external marketing contractors and contributors.
  • Performance Tracking: Implement ROI-focused measurement and reporting systems.

Who We’re Looking For:

Essential Qualities:

  • Mission Alignment: Deep resonance with JFF’s humanitarian mission and commitment to purpose-driven work.
  • Proven Self-Starter: Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently and build systems from scratch.
  • Broad Skill Set: Demonstrated experience across digital marketing, fundraising, and brand management.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating ambiguity and wearing multiple hats in a dynamic environment.

Ideal Experience

  • Marketing experience in startup, small business, or not-for-profit environments
  • Track record of successful campaign management and donor engagement
  • Strong digital marketing skills (social media, email marketing, SEO, paid advertising)
  • Experience with fundraising platforms and donor management systems
  • Excellent written communication skills in English
  • Bonus: Familiarity with Indonesian culture or Bahasa Indonesia language skills

What We Offer

The Role

  • Part-time: Initially 2 days per week, with potential to scale to 3 days/week based on performance.
  • Hybrid Remote: Primarily remote with most work done online, but candidates must be based in or near Perth to attend periodic in-person board meetings and strategic sessions.
  • Flexible scheduling: Ideal for experienced professionals balancing other commitments.
  • Competitive Compensation: $80,000 – $110,000 (FTE pro-rata, with performance bonuses) commensurate with experience

The Impact

  • Direct contribution to restoring sight and transforming lives across Indonesia
  • Opportunity to build and lead JFF’s marketing function from the ground up
  • Strategic influence on an established NGO ready for its next growth phase
  • Work with a mission-driven team committed to sustainable impact

Professional Development

  • Leadership role with significant autonomy and creative freedom
  • Potential to transition to permanent employment and build a dedicated marketing team.
  • Experience scaling marketing efforts in the international development sector
  • Clear performance metrics and regular feedback for continuous improvement
  • Professional development resources, networking opportunities, and mentorship in international development and non-profit sectors.
