A Friendship Grant from the Australian Government resulted in 275 blind people being restored to sight in Banyuwangi, East Java.
JFF conducted the four-day mass screening and operating program in Banyuwangi in March, preceded by two weeks of specialised training for nurses from Banyuwangi with the JFF senior nurses in Bali. In Banyuwangi 2,551 people with eye problems were screened, 1,418 received a pair of glasses to improve their vision and 540 were treated for infections.
